“La leggerezza per me si associa con la precisione e la determinazione, non con la vaghezza e l’abbandono al caso. Paul Valéry ha detto. “Il faut être léger comme l’oiseau, et non comme la plume”.” . I. Calvino - “Lezioni Americane”
“Lightness for me goes with precision and determination, not with vagueness and the haphazard. Paul Valéry said: “Il faut être léger comme l’oiseau, et non comme la plume”. (One should be light like a bird, and not like a feather)”. I. Calvino - “Six memos for the next millennium”
My vision as a professional and artist originates from the unsettling feeling that I did not choose to come into the world. But I know I will spend the best part of my time on this earth trying to get closer to the person I’m supposed to be: the real me, having leapt over many of life’s hardships one daunting hurdle at a time — and I’d love to help you overcome yours.
This pursuit for a purpose often feels like a never-ending struggle, and the ground under my feet slowly giving way; much like quicksand, only I refuse to allow myself to sink — to allow those that trust in my care to sink — and so I rise, slowly, but surely to firmer grounds. Still, I believe the struggle can and should be playful, light, open and judgment free (our own judgment often being the most dangerous to overcome).
Movement is necessary to generate change and keep us alive, but every change puts us off-balance and that can be terrifying, simply because we have to give up control — and that places our trust in the hands of the great unknown. But that’s when I take flight and look at things from above, not to escape, but rather to gain a better vision and take myself less seriously. As I fly, I’m not oblivious of my story and my roots; I carry them with me, but they are not a burden anymore, rather a continuous source of inspiration, potentiality and a strong (yet gentle) spirit: my strength. Like somebody else said: “Take life lightly, for lightness is not lack of depth, but gliding on things from above, without weights on your heart”.
The enemies of my nightmares, my fantasies’ monsters, and my real life’s invaders are all free to play together in this dimension; as long as we love — and acknowledge — all of our pretty sides and cheerful stories, there is a deep core somewhere inside of us that is ugly and grotesque like a creepy stalker. We don’t have to like it but come to understand that it is us as much as all the rest is. Recognizing it can be the greatest source of our beauty and, despite the contrary, provide us with a glint of light at our darkest times.
Mine is a journey from the innermost; the subconscious — the netherworld, and this is my bold attempt to connect the lively parts with the paralyzing and deadening ones. Sometimes the story will be raw and unpleasant, and there will be other times when it will be gentle and mesmerizing, or fun, or even seductive.
Isn’t this the ultimate meaning of art, though? The one of giving a sense to our own pain (which is a collective pain), transcend it and turn it into something beautiful but still true?
The communication between our demons and our vitality, between our body and our soul, our thoughts and our feelings, is for me the only path to mental sanity, authenticity and happiness. My purpose is to help you find these connections.
Together we can take that next step lightly, playfully, judgement free, and rid ourselves of all the horrors that dare to drown us — just give me your hand and I’ll take you to better heights, where I’ll show you a lighter side to life. A much fitter, lovelier side to you.
Let’s soar above it all…together.
